If you need a real wake up, try their cold brew. They've been serving this way before cold brew became a sensation. Cinnamon rolls are delightful. Outdoor area in front is nice to bring your dog with you and a great way to chill.

I go here if I want to treat myself. The tasting menu and service is impeccable. Pair it with the wine tasting menu and you are in for a real treat. You'll feel catered to the entire time. When you enter, you step through the kitchen. While sitting you can see it all go down and I love that. They moved to having set sitting times so be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. If you're looking for a foodie group destination, book out the large table and try the whole menu.

Everything that comes out of the kitchen is an instagram picture and it's tastes as good as it looks. This is classic Nordic eats. It isn't the original location, but us in the North were excited when a Broder opened another restaurant near us. Order the swedish pancakes with lemon dipping sauce and cheers your friend with a mimosa.

I'm listing this as a bakery, but it has it all. Fantastic sandwiches and salads, coffee that measures up to cups in Europe, and the pastries are a must after a hike on Lower Maclean. I think I hike for the pastry. I order the nicoise salad and chocolate croissant and sit at the bar area to watch them bake bread. Very peaceful.

We are spoiled with so many good restaurants 3 blocks from the apartment. Much like the other restaurants on this street, the menu rotates with the season. However, how they stand out is they emphasize northwest fish, seafood, and vegetables. Other restaurants are more meat forward. Their wine selection is picked from natural wines from around the world and I like to go in here for a nightcap even if I'm not eating. They have an excellent selection of aperitifs and digestifs like DOC, but the view of the bar is like an french oil painting. This place is closed on Tuesdays so be sure to plan ahead.

My favorite pizza in town. I like flat european style pizzas and their dough is the "eat the crust" kind of dough. Their dough is a perfect balance of chewy and crispy. Not sure how they do it. Order the Ruthless and their garlicy caesar salad. Your breathe may need help, but your taste buds and tummy will be satisfied. It's worth the price too. The outside patio is chill and a good place for families with playing cards on every table. Beer selection is always good. This spot is a definite go to our ours. You will come back again and again

All the buttery savory and technique of French cuisine, but with unexpected notes of PNW farm to table flare. The attention to the vegetables was the highlight to me. They are a star in their own right. Not treated like a side, they are prepared and paired in a way that made my husband want to lick the plate. Those carrots. The turnips. Delicious. The service was warm and informed. Lots of smiles without being overdone. If you're a foodie ($$$), check it out.

On your way back from skiing the mountain and you want GOOD food? Stop here. Koya Kitchen changed owners and moved from govy and settled here. Now it has the space to stretch out into this warm and outdoorsy atmosphere. Such a refreshing, delicious treat. Best Miso soup I have ever had and the avocado fried rice was unbelievably umami. This place is kinda iconic. A special place that has it all. If you can get a spot on the balcony to watch the sunset create the golden hour on the city, you'll find yourself lucky. Partake in the wine flights that are a decent pour and have a lot of variety of style. With delicious salads filled with ingredients picked straight from the roof top garden, I highly recommend selecting a few salads and splitting a main course. Great spot for romance or a fun chat with a good friend.

Charming and great attention to detail in the decor and the food. Fresh flavors that offer breakfast comfort, but feels light in that you don't have a heavy feeling walking out. Perfectly strong NW coffee gives me the wake up I needed. You may encounter a big line to order, but it goes quick. I prefer order before you sit anyhow. Plus, after getting through the line the food comes out quick. Beautiful patio space with just the right amount of shade and pet friendly.

An excellent foodie ($$$) experience just 3 blocks from the apartment. Chef and James Beard winner Naomi Pomeroy was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon. She spent her childhood hanging around the stove and in backyard gardens with her mother, who spent her early years in Rouen, France, and with grandmother Vivian, who hailed from New Orleans. Naomi started up this restaurant as small family-style suppers. Bring it back. The intimacy of these suppers is preserved at Beast, a 24-seat restaurant where people can chat freely with each other at communal tables. Beast offers a six-course, prix-fixe, and service compris dinner twice nightly Wednesday through Saturday. Make reservations.

This is one of my favorite brunch spots. The flavors are excellent and it's a nice change from the traditional american breakfast items. The sprawling, family-style menu features innovative dishes with diverse origins from the east coast and inspired by Chef Gorham’s travels and experiences with the vital immigrant community working in the restaurant industry whose own cultural traditions have helped re-shape American cuisine as a global collaboration of flavors. Weekdays is a good time to go to avoid the weekend rush. They don't take reservations so this is one of those places that has a line of waiting people all Saturday and Sunday.

There are couple of these around town, but this is the original. It lives up to the hype if you're adventurous in your ice cream flavors. Many of the recipes require an open mind and that's why they are known for letting you taste as much as you like. The lines can be long because of this exact reason. However, if you know the flavor you want you can skip the line and head straight to the cooler and grab a pint of ice cream and pay at the register. My go to is their Salted Caramel. Yum! If you're doing a cone, opt for a split scoop. 2 scoops is a lot of ice cream, but I always want 2 flavors. This is best of both worlds and cheaper.

Founded in Portland, Oregon in 2010, Little Big Burger is a fast-casual restaurant concept offering fresh, high quality cooked-to-order burgers, truffle fries and root beer floats. You can find these popping up everywhere because it's that good. As a girl that loves french fries, the burger to french fry ratio is just right. A foodie price point ($$, $$$) but a popular restaurant in the area. Many of these have franchised out due to the success. The decor and ambiance is picturesque. Their service is impeccable. In 2008, Bamboo Sushi became the world's first certified sustainable sushi restaurant. This place is a go to for me. Minors aren't allowed so for some that is a pro vs. a con. The margaritas are the best in town, but be careful. 1 or 2 could go a long way. Not a lot of people notice this place, but that's by design. The best mixologist in town opened his own place and his girlfriend and James Beard winner Chef Naomi Pomeroy designed the menu. Looking for a good bloody mary bar? This is it. With every kind of something to consider for your drink, they have it all. Maybe even too much, but it's a fun novelty to check out. If you aren't adventurous in building your own, they do a great job making them too. They also serve good breakfast too. It's also a pretty hopping spot as a bar scene at night.

Every neighborhood needs an Irish style pub. This is ours. Excellent whisky, scotch, and cider selection. They feature live music and have yummy Irish inspired food. The owner is from Ireland and there most times with a smile and ready to chat. Stop in for one as they say in Ireland.

About a 25 minute taxi ride from the apartment, is this fun spot. They host outdoor concerts, have a fun par 3 golf course, features McMeniman's beer, wine and whiskey, and has the same pub food you'll find at any McMenimans. This is a hopping spot when the sun comes out in the spring/summer/fall.

If you like whiskey and a high end experience, check out this place. It can take up to 1.5 hr to get a seat so put your name in and then head somewhere nearby while you wait. Kask is a good spot. They'll call you. It's design is like an old library, but instead of books it's glass bottles of liquor. You can order just a drink or do the tasting. I recommend the tasting to get the whole experience. The server will ask you questions about what you like to drink and then come back with 3 bottles to try. They even chill it in a beaker table side. Enjoy!

This used to be the only spot for great restaurants and shopping until all the pearl district and eastside areas got developed. This is the most popular ski resort on Mt. Hood. That also means it's pretty packed. If you can ski on the weekdays, I highly recommend do so. The parking lots can fill up by 830am on the weekends and lines can be really long if a few of the key lifts are shut down due to winds. If everything is open, it's a great place to be. Unless you like to spend money, this isn't where I get all my groceries. One bag could cost you $75. I use Safeway or Fred Meyer. However, if you want a great deli, produce, and protein come here. It's worth a second stop after you get your staples somewhere else. If you're joining a BBQ or potluck, this is the place to get your contribution. You'll see why property value goes up when one of these gets put in a neighborhood. The parking is limited, on purpose, because it's meant for locals to walk up and grab a few things.
