Mejju 2019We stayed here for 11 nights while in Ubud. This was our first time with airbnb and we were agreeably surprised. While I will mention some minor negatives, the whole experience was amazing for the amount we paid.
The rooms- There are 8 rooms in the complex and the complex itself is designed very well with no rooms having common walls. Some of the rooms are bigger than others. The bigger rooms have larger beds, good access to both sides of the bed and bigger bathrooms. All rooms have AC and ceiling fans, as well as a small fridge. We saw 3 rooms while we were there - 2 had ceiling fans that were a bit wonky and hence made a bit of noise, but I told the owner who said she would have them checked. The bed in room 4 was squeaky when I laid on it, so we didn't stay there. The two rooms we did stay in were very comfortable and well- appointed and the beds were great. The shower in room 1 was a bit ineffective, but the shower in our other room (3) was fabulous - a hand held shower fitting and good strong pressure, better than our shower at home.
Facilities- there was a shared kitchenette which we didn't use apart from the filtered water dispenser. Having the free filtered water was great. The only minor inconvenience was that if it ran out later in the day, there was no one around to replace the bottle until the next day, so maybe have a backup water bottle handy. Beware the bottle opener on the fridge- it took off the top of my Bintang bottle as well!
There is a really nice pool which is large enough to relax in. It was sparkling clean, refreshing and shaded over most of it so you could have a dip without getting sunburnt. The gardens surrounding the pool and rooms are lovely.
Breakfast- a very very generous bowl of fresh fruit, fresh juices and/or coffee/tea plus banana pancake or eggs done a couple of different ways. The eggs were OK- we preferred the banana pancake. We bought some maple syrup from the shop and that made the pancake even better.
People- Kadek is the owner/manager. She is very warm and friendly and will do anything she can to keep guests happy. She arranged scooters for us for our stay. She gives you her phone number so you can contact her at any time and she checks in regularly for a chat and to see how it's all going. She has a staff of 3 to serve breakfast and clean. They will usually help with your needs as long as you ask.
A slight problem for me was that there are a number of roosters on one side of the property and they start their chorus at 6am. My husband and I both sleep with earplugs, but they still woke me every morning when we were in room 3. I eventually solved the problem by putting on headphones as well as earplugs which allowed me to go back to sleep. That said, they didn't wake him at all and they didn't wake either of us when we were in room 1.
All in all a very good stay, great value for money and we would stay here again.
