Airbnb maintains referral, Superhost Ambassador, and similar programs that allow Hosts to earn payments or other rewards when they, or the people they refer, take certain actions, such as completing their first stay on Airbnb. Some programs have specific requirements, which, if not set out in these Referral Terms, are included on their respective program pages.

All users must be logged-in to their Airbnb account to generate their referral link.

1 Where can I read the full terms?

Host referrals: By participating you agree to the Host Referral Program’s Terms and Conditions, which you can read in the Help Center. The rules and limitations set out in this FAQ also apply to the program.

2 When do I get my cash reward?

Host referrals: About 14 days after your referral completes their first qualifying stay, we’ll send your reward directly to your account. Depending on your payout method, it can take another 1–7 days for the funds to arrive in your account.

Airbnb-provided referrals: About 14 days after the person you are matched with completes their first qualifying stay, we’ll send your reward directly to your account. Depending on your payout method, it can take another 1–7 days for the funds to arrive in your account.

3 How many referrals can I make ?

Host referrals: There is no limit to how many referrals you can make to your network, but you can only earn a cash reward for a maximum of 25 referrals.

Ambassador referrals: There is no limit to how many referrals you can make to your network, but you can only earn a cash reward for 2000 referrals.

Airbnb-provided referrals: Not applicable.

4 Who can I refer?

Host referrals: You can refer almost anyone who’s new to hosting on Airbnb, even if they already have an Airbnb account. They’ll have to host an Entire Place or a private room in an eligible location for you to get credit. Private rooms in some locations aren’t eligible. Shared rooms aren’t eligible. Please remember that anyone who uses API-connected software is not eligible. Other exceptions include, but are not limited to, anyone who previously received a referral invitation, previously published a listing or people that live in certain ineligible locations.

5 When does the referral expire?

Host referrals: To qualify for your cash reward, the person you refer needs to complete their first reservation—in other words, their first guest needs to complete their stay and check out—within 90 days of acting on the referral by clicking “Get started” from your unique link.

Ambassador referrals: To qualify for your cash reward, the person you refer needs to complete their first reservation—in other words, their first guest needs to complete their stay and check out—within 90 days of acting on the referral by clicking “Get started” from your unique link.

Airbnb-provided referrals: To qualify for your cash reward, the person you refer needs to complete their first reservation—in other words, their first guest needs to complete their stay and check out—within 365 days of acting on the referral by clicking “Get started” from your unique link.

6 What is a qualifying stay?

Host referrals: A qualifying stay is a reservation that’s valued at $100 USD or the local equivalent (before taxes and Airbnb service fees). This amount is for the total value for all nights of the reservation, it does not have to be the nightly rate. But the value of the reservation (including all nights) must be at least $100 USD or more.

7 How do I get credit for my referrals?

Host referrals: In order for us to keep track of your referrals, the person you refer will need to create their entire place or private room listing by following the unique link you send them. That means going to the link, clicking on “Get started,” and then logging in or signing up to Airbnb—they can do all of this using the Airbnb app, too.

Ambassador referrals: Airbnb automatically tracks your Ambassador referrals, along with their expiration date.
